ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Tamil language has been a part of the undergraduate course since 2016. The Tamil department has been started with the introduction of the undergraduate Tamil curriculum in the academic year 2023 and is running with excellence. Tamilization of students is encouraged through Muthamil Forum. Students are given the necessary training to showcase their talents by participating in Tamil clubs, seminars and competitions.

To develop personality skills through Tamil language and literature and create a creative minded student community with self-confidence and intelligence.

MISSION

• To create awareness about ancient tamil culture and cultural heritage and develop a dynamic valuable community.

DEPARTMENT EVENTS:

• The inauguration of the department offering UG course (B.A. Tamil) was held on 17 th August, 2022 in the Abiraami auditorium. The special guests were Poet. Abdul Kader, Professor Dr. Jayakar, Poet, Padumanar, Poet. Ethirasanar, and Poet. Vangamudi.
• The department organized the programme entitled “Arivoamthamizhai” on 3 rd September, 2022. The special guest was Poet. Ethirasanar.
• The department organized the programme entitled “Ancient Tamizhans Culture and Civilization” on 13 th September, 2022. The special guest was Dr. M. Brinda, Academic Director of the host institution.
• The department organized the guest lecture on “Literature at a Glance” on 20 th October, 2022. The special guest was Poet. Ethirasanar.
• The department observed the memorial day of V.O .Chidambaram Pillai on 18 th November, 2022.
• The department observed Indira Gandhi birthday anniversary on 19 th November, 2022.
• The Department of Tamil along with Tamil Mandram organized Speech competitionon 13 th December-2021 for the 140 th Birthday of Bharathiyar. In the occasion Headed by Chairman Mr.M.N. Jothi Kumar and Principal
• The department of Tamil along with Tamil Mandram Bharathidasan Birthday on April 29, 2022. In our college premises.
• A traditional food festival was held at Sree Abirami College of Arts and Science, Gudiyatham on behalf of the Department of Tamil on 18/05/2022 at 10:30 am at the Abirami Gallery. More than 50 food items were on display at the event.
• Department of Tamil organize one day seminar &Paper presentation, the topic was “Anmeegamum Thamizhum” by Tamil department students on 21.02.2023@2.00p.m in Abiraami seminar Hall
