ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Commerce was established in the year 2016 with an UG programme B.Com, which opens an arena of opportunities for the students who look for options outside the subject after their degree. With the emerging focus on interdisciplinary studies, B.Com (Computer Applications) was added in the department in the year 2017. The Department facilitates the students to get the updated curriculum as per the emerging trends in commerce with computer, equips students with the latest developments in the field of business and commerce and trains them in the practical applications of the same in modern organizations. The Department encourages and motivates the students to pursue their Higher education, to take up the competitive exams and professional courses. It seeks to enable them to handle the challenges of growth and transformation of businesses through critical thinking, rational attitude and quality decision making. It is dedicated to develop the students into responsible citizens of the country with high moral values, understanding the problems of human relationships and developing a capacity to appreciate the finer values of life.

PROGRAMME & COURSE OUTCOME:

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

Candidate seeking admission to the first year of the UG Degree Course should have passed the Higher Secondary Course Examination (Academic or Vocational) Conducted by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science / Commerce / Accountancy as a subject or any other Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate subject to such other conditions as may be prescribed. Such Candidates shall be permitted to take the B.Sc., Computer Science Degree Examination of this University after the completion of the Course of three Academic Years in this University/Colleges affiliated to this University and shall qualify for the B.Sc., Computer Science Degree.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT:

• Ms. T Simla and Ms. L Shobhana, III B.Com. Students presented a paper “Marketing Research Management” and secured I place in a seminar “Zoomers 18” organized by Department of Commerce & Business Administration, Sree Abiraami Arts and Science College for Women, Gudiyattam.
• Ms. U Shamyukthya, II B.Com. Students presented a paper “Reason Trend in Measure of Population Control in India ” and secured II place in a seminar “Zoomers 18” organized by Department of Commerce & Business Administration, Sree Abiraami Arts and Science College for Women, Gudiyattam.

DEPARTMENT EVENTS:

2021-2022:

• Department of Commerce & Commerce (CA) organized a Seminar on “PERSONAL FINANCE & INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT FOR BEGINNERS” on 25th APRIL 2022. The resource person was Dr. P. GEETHA, M.A, M.Phil, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Economics, GVG Visalakshi college for women, Udumalpet. She delivered a special lecture on “Investment Management”. She gave many Investment management tricks.
• Department of Commerce in collaboration with Skycampus, Power Seminar & ICT Academy organized a Virtual Power Seminar on “Developing Interpersonal Skills” on 11th June, 2021. The speaker was Ms. Jyothsna Tulasi B, Associate Manager - Employee Experience.

2019-2020:

• Department of Commerce & Commerce (CA) organized a special programme “WHAT NEXT” on 14th September, 2019. The Chief Guests were Mr. Jawari Lal, Former RTN Governor, Gudiyattam and Mrs. Lalitha Ravivendhan, Presiddent, Inner Wheel Club.

2018-2019:

• Department of Commerce & Business Administration organized a seminar “ZOOMERS 18” on 1st October, 2018. The Speaker was Dr. S Kayalvizhi, M.A., M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D., D.L.L.,D.I.S.M., MBA., Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Muthurangam Govt. Arts College, Vellore.
• Department of Commerce & Commerce (CA) organized “ECO COMMERCE – 2019” on 19th January, 2019. The resource person was Dr. C Dhandapani, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., Professor & Head, Department of Economics, Thiruvalluvar University, Serkkadu, Vellore.
